Surface Design: Mark-Making on Fabric
Learn how to create your own original fabric with inexpensive and easy to use supplies and simple techniques that can be used alone or combined for a beautiful one-of-a-kind fabric. We will cover a wide variety of techniques, including no-wax batik, several methods of fabric painting, stamping, stenciling, and silk screening. We'll also work with rubbing plates, found object stamping, and positive/negative impressions. In no time at all you'll be creating your own art cloth to use as whole cloth, background or pieces in your next quilt.
Supply list:
5 yds white muslin
Elmer's washable school glue
foam paint brushes
spray bottle
1/2 yard piece of poly batting (the cheap stuff!)
There will also be a $10/student kit fee for instructor-provided paints and other supplies.
