Thread Painting and Thread Drawing:
In this class students will learn how to use their sewing machines as a drawing and painting tool using free motion embroidery. The class will consist of ‘painting’ a pre-printed design as well as ‘drawing’ and ‘painting’ an original design
Crazy Log Cabin-A color Value Exercise:
Students will explore color value relationships as they design and construct a crazy patched log cabin wall hanging. This improvisationally pieced log cabin design is an enjoyable way to learn how to use color values in a visually pleasing design.
Machine Embroidery:
This can be either a notebook class or a project class. In the notebook class students will make samples of techniques that can be used for future reference and practice. In the project class students will use machine embroidery techniques to embellish a crazy quilt pillow. Some possible topics are: appliqué, invisible appliqué, couching, free motion embroidery and quilting , needle lace, cable stitch and other bobbin techniques, confetti, eyelet, tassels and much more
In this class participants will learn hand embroidery stitches, bead embroidery, and beading techniques to decorate a crazy patch square. Participants will come to class with a pre-constructed crazy patch square (detailed instructions for this will be supplied by the teacher before the class). During the class stitch instruction sheets will be supplied by the teacher with a small printing fee charged.
