LET’S FORM A GSQA CHAPTER

Application for Affiliation with GSQA
To gain affiliation with GSQA, a group must make application in writing to the address shown below. The letter of application must contain the following information.

Name of Group
To prevent duplication, a group may write to the Membership Director prior to submitting the letter of application, and request approval for its name being held in reserve for them. GSQA reserves the right to request a chapter to change its proposed name in the event of duplication.

Names of Members
A group, guild, or bee must consist of at least five (5) GSQA members. The GSQA contact person for your group MUST be a GSQA member. In order to truly benefit from all GSQA programs, 100% GSQA membership is encouraged. The application must include addresses and telephone numbers of all GSQA members.

Meeting Place and Times
Each chapter may set its own schedule of meetings at its own convenience—once a week or once a month, etc. and include this info to the Membership Director along with the name of a contact person for the chapter on the application.

Dues
If the new chapter consists entirely of persons who are already members of GSQA, they have already paid their dues. But if the application contains the names of persons joining GSQA at the time of the application, their dues must accompany the letter of application. The guild itself does not pay dues. However, chapters are asked for help with Seminar activities and the GSQA biennial quilt show.

Chapter Reports
All chapters are encouraged to provide reports of chapter activities to the QUILT TALK newsletter editor  and the website for publication so that the GSQA general membership can be kept informed of all matters of interest.
The Chapter Contact or the President of the chapter shall submit an updated roster of officers and GSQA members to the Membership Director each year at the April General Membership meeting or mail it to her no later than May 1st, or when changes occur. This is so an updated Chapter List can be published in the July QUILT TALK.

Responsibility of GSQA to Each Chapter
GSQA will endeavor to provide each Chapter with support in its activities. GSQA will respond promptly to any Chapter’s request for information, assistance, visits by board members, etc. GSQA will sponsor various educational activities throughout the year, including a seminar each spring and a quilt show every other year (odd years). A Circuit Teacher program is also available to all chapter affiliates. GSQA general membership meetings are held quarterly on the 4th Saturday of January, April, July, and October. Chapters are encouraged to volunteer to host a quarterly meeting in their area. Meeting places are announced in QUILT TALK and on the website (www.gulfstatesquilting.org)
